We fully anticipate that the popular tactic to spin communication messages from those with financial interests in the destruction of the Sacred Site to tout the, 'disunity' of First Nations on this matter. In the past, it has been an effective communication strategy, when forcing a development, to stress 'First Nations are divided on this....'
Just like in the House of Commons or at parent's school committees there are always diverse and opposing views. This is the healthy basis of any democracy. The same reality can be found in First Nations governance structures. There is ongoing 'behind closed doors' pressure on First Nations leaders and individuals to ignore the above-mentioned key resolutions and support this destructive development project. Individual interests are important but in Indigenous way of life the collective well-being is paramount just as equally as that of the next seven generations.
The Indigenous collective stands in unity and Canadians will support them as well.
On June 17th, 2016 - thousands joined our Facebook book in unity for the Sacred Site - one spirit - one mind. 600+ joined the walk. A sacred site is, after all, sacred. The voice of the people and the prayers of the elders will prevail over any appearance of disunity when it comes to the Sacred sites of Indigenous people. Leaders will stand stronger as they will be supported by the people.
It IS Sacred.
